Found on a charming cobbled side street, The First Luxury Art Hotel is a carefully hidden treasure trove. A boutique hotel situated on Via del Vantaggio near Piazza del Popolo and Il Corso, this really is a fabulously quirky hotel to watch.
This is a modern hotel by any standard but instead of the generic modern hotels which could be in any city in any part of the world, The First Luxury Art Hotel presents a swish, stylish and art-filled establishment with quirky works for you to feast your eyes on. The hotel presents art from contemporary Italian artists and rotates all of the works every 6 months. These are accompanied by the vivacious and bold design and colours of surrounding lights and furniture, set against a grey interior background.
Yet nothing is ever grey here. The staff is polite, incredibly helpful and friendly and they take you on a grand tour of the hotel upon arriving. The hotel prizes its magnificent 300 degrees bar which has the most outrageously spectacular view over Rome, allowing you to see above the roof tops and the fantastic domes that beautify the city’s landscape. The most beautiful sunsets can be seen from here, enjoyed with a cigarillo and glass of chilled prosecco.
The hotel plays host to Michelin starred restaurant All’Oro and a trendy bar area downstairs. The lounge area is superb and needs to be popularized for a real vibe to infiltrate the ambience. As the hotel is very new, this is a space that will fill up easily over time; comfortable arm chairs, intriguing art works and a trendy setting all provide for the perfect atmosphere to relax in.
The hotel comprises of 23 art suites and 6 deluxe rooms. A stay here is like a home away from home. Comfortable sofas and seating area await you as well as plump cushions on the bed. The rooms are small yet intimate and stylishly decorated with works from a single contemporary artist. A pricy minibar is found in the corner of the room but is a great temptation when staying in on those rainy days. A marvelous all marble bathroom almost the size of the room adjoins and has a fantastic array of local Italian products. Being a small hotel means there are a limited number of rooms available but it is this which gives the hotel such charm, character and personality as every detail is attended to as well as having all the services a five star hotel offers.
The intimate vibe throughout the hotel gives such warmth that I never wanted to leave. It was an absolute pleasure to stay at The First Luxury Art Hotel. Not only is the location unbeatable but the character of this boutique hotel combines luxury, style, art and passion and there is a real glow from the staff and atmosphere which can’t be found in the other overrun and pretentious establishments. Sitting in the lounge, I observed all the passersby stop to gaze in at the hotel in curiosity: is it an art gallery? A hotel perhaps?
What adds to the uniqueness of your experience is that no two visits will ever be the same as the hotel is always changing and rotating art works. I look forward to my next visit to Rome, if anything just because I want to see the intriguing changes of artworks within The First Luxury Art Hotel.
