BBeyond Magazine hosted one of its private dinners in the BBeyond Inner Circle (BBIC) series at the Libray room of the Franklin, a discreetly positioned 5 star hotel in the heart of Knightsbridge, London.

The restaurant at the Franklin is the domain of Michelin-starred Chef Alfredo Russo and the Library is one of several spaces that cater to private functions.

As the name indicates, it is a cosy room, sitting up to 10 for a formal dinner, with a reception area where we had Champagne and canapés.

The small dinner included art collectors (Lekha Poddar, Pat Doherty, Laura Allard, Jon Snell) and individuals with similar global interests in property development, philanthropy and the arts generally.

The three course menu included slow cooked octopus, Piedmont potato foam, capers and iced olive powder; “Stracotto di vitello” con topinambur e radici: Braised veal served with Jerusalem artichokes and mix; Filetto di tonno con finocchi e arancia: Sliced tuna fillet served with fennels and peeled orange, and a selection of desserts.

  • Filetto di tonno con finocchi e arancia
  • Gnocchi ai quattro elementi
  • Tartaccio di nocciola e tartufo
  • Faraona con zucca e castagne

The wine list is very comprehensive, including some interesting choices from around the world, and competitively priced.

The Library room is designed in a pared down contemporary style and guests can stream their own music or listen to the easy jazz selection offered by the hotel.

The evening was a resounding success, as are all of our small private dinners in the series.

BBIC operates as an informal club whose gatherings include individuals profiled in BBeyond. Guests are invited entirely at our discretion; we do not have sponsors and commercial overtones are frowned upon. The dinners exist solely for the purpose of introducing private individuals to one another and to enjoy topical conversations in a peer company.
