Those familiar with the Thompson Hotel Group have become accustomed to their consistent level of excellent service and observant attention to detail. They are responsible for managing fabulous design-oriented hotels, continuing this trend in the urban outpost that is Thompson Beverly Hills. One can find respite from the glitz and glamour of nearby Rodeo Drive in the subdued and sexy interior that greets you from the moment you step inside this 70’s era reboot.  Über designer Dodd Mitchell’s imprint is evident throughout, with custom furniture heavy on dark wood accents punctuated by strips of mirrored glass. For those seeking classy sophistication, Thompson Beverly Hills delivers in a flawless setting.Walking the hallway to your room, you are met at either end with portraits by the ever provocative Stephen Klein, and this sex appeal culminates with the leather and mirror headboard that dominates the irresistible platform bed. The bathrooms accent the décor with an enticing array of white mosaic tiles supplemented by pure lines of black marble. If you choose your room wisely, you will experience spectacular views of the Hollywood sign and the bustle below. Do yourself a favor and reserve their Penthouse Suite, which offers 1,100 square feet of well-placed amenities. This jewel of a room is teeming with balconies, an oversize living room, spacious kitchen and a full dining area that beckons you to entertain.

Once you have taken in the lacquered interiors of Thompson Beverly Hills, make your way to the rooftop pool and experience what it means to bask in such a glamorous outdoor space. Only hotel guests are allowed into this oasis, which is replete with relaxing cabanas, cocktail and dining terraces as well as a very inviting bar with a palm tree as its masthead. Be sure to take a moment to visit the adjacent fitness room as you will get a glance of the pool through a unique porthole built into the wall. After a full day of relaxation, it was hard to leave what had become our luxury compound, but with such a great location we didn’t have to walk far to experience the famous shopping district of Beverly Hills. In a city where the car is king, it was pleasant to be within distance of great restaurants and the excitement that Rodeo Drive provides. After getting our fill from street level, it was a comfort to return to the sanctuary that the Thompson Beverly Hills affords. This is a trademark of the Thompson Hotel group that has been carefully cultivated by co-founders Stephen Brandman and Michael, Larry and Jason Pomeranc. With locations in New York, DC, Chicago, Toronto and the newest hotel in London, we here at Beyond Black are excited to venture through the Thompson catalog, taking you along for the journey.
