Visit the Santa Brigida boutique hotel, strategically placed 2 min. walk from Via Toledo and the Umberto I Gallery. Like many other Napolitan hotels, it is “hidden” inside a courtyard and occupies part of a floor of a period building. You take the lift to the 3rd
intents and purposes, a large apartment (the hotel has but 12 bedrooms) arranged as a small lobby, a reception area, a breakfast room, all off a main corridor.
You would be forgiven for thinking you’ve landed in a gallery: photo panels are cleverly used as partitions between the different areas, as window blinds and moving walls. An unusual coffee table at the reception room is built around a handgun with an extended trigger line.
The rooms are small but well-equipped and the bathrooms have power showers with their own massage jets.
The owners have made the most of the space, with a folding secretaire revealing a tea-making set, a minibar fridge and an intricate hanging space.
Breakfast is original, consisting of literally scores of taster-size dishes, all explained on a mini-tablette mounted by your table.
Breakfast is split into savoury and sweet and each has an extensive menu of small portions, including bean soup, a selection of salamis, stuffed aubergine, tiny pastries, fruit, yoghurts, chocolates, jams, honeys – really, too many to list all.
Service is good and unobtrusive but check-out is 10.30 am, so do factor that into your day.
Perfectly suitable for day shoppers, couples and business people for whom a central location is important.
