Without a doubt, Hush is one of London’s trendiest restaurants, and with a fantastic menu to boot.

Hush

There’s a little bit of something for everyone to love individually. Whether it’s the manicured terrace that greets you from your descent down the charming cobbled streets in this tucked away corner of Mayfair or the outrageously delicious cocktail concoctions (Hush’s Aviator Bar has just won the ‘Best Bar Award’ at the prestigious The London Club & Bar Awards), it just works.hush-oxford-circus-regent-street-london-17

We kicked off our evening with two fantastic cocktails: the bloody mary and the Rhiannatini. The Bloody Mary was as fiery as they come and the Rhiannatini, a spin of the classic espresso martini, was loaded with all the razzmatazz that the singer herself boasts.

Our smorgasbord of delights was a veritable feast. To start we tried the Pao De Queijo Hot Breadsticks, with tomato tapenade. Warm, gooey and with a smooth tapenade to add taste, this was a fantastic initiation into what was to be a surprise evening.

Mayfair restaurants often have a reputation of being ‘classic’ – food is easy, nice and safe. Whilst Hush adheres to this, it adds much more. A dash of zany, a pinch of the exotic, and away we go!

We started with a selection of small plates, or cicchetti. These were the Asparagus, fried duck egg, black truffle, Artichokes Milanese with lemon aioli, Chipotle Steak Tartare, Sautéed Scallops with cauliflower purée, hazelnut crumble and Plancha Tiger Prawns, chilli dressing & burnt lime.

The plancha tiger prawns were an explosion of fire on the palate, with the hint of lime to soothe. Also noteable was the chipotle steak tartare, an impressive dish with oodles of succulent taste and hints of chipotle throughout. The sauteed scallops were an elegant dish: tender meat combined with a nutty caulifower puree, creating an irresistible fusion. The vegetable dishes, the artichokes milanese and the asparagus with truffle were soft antidotes to the spciy dishes and each delicious in their own right, with a focus on delicate and subtle flavours.

The main dish, the Grilled Lobster, garlic butter, fried zucchini was cooked to perfection. Tender, juicy and succulent, the lobster couldn’t have been better. Coupled with indulgent fried zucchini and this was definitely a winner for the evening!
We didn’t try the desserts but with a vow to return, we will be bringing you news of these!
