There are several indulgences in life that, when considered retrospectively, seem like excellent choices. Nobu in Monte Carlo was one of these moments.
Booked on a whim and a craving for sushi, we ventured to the Nobu in The Fairmont Monaco, which perches over the sea in a Hollywood-type setting.
Our palate was oiled before with a whisky soda and the oh so moreish Nobu Strawberitto – a seductive spin on a health juice with a boozy dimension.
Eschewing a chronological order of envy-enducing dishes, we will start with the best!
Hands-down, the two best were the Lobster spinach salad with dry miso and Rock shrimp tempura. A salty and indulgent miso coated the spinach, with tender lobster meat to pad the delicious concoction – absolutely 10/10. We loved the rock shrimp with its creamy sauce for the temptation it promised and delivered – but as a light version.
Next up were the Steamed broccoli with shiso salsa, Eggplant den miso, the Duck breast Yakimono with a truffle sauce. The eggplant was sublime – two aubergine chunks, with a slither of miso sauce to cover. The steamed broccoli was another healthy dish with a pot os shiso salsa to add a spice dimensione. The duck breast was cooked to perfection, although it was accompanied with a rather ‘interesting’ sauce – each to their own.
Last but not least was the sushi platter – white tuna, scallops, prawn, sweet prawn, smoked salmon sashimi, salmon sashimi – a melange of the good and the great. Our favourite part? The unlimited amount of wasabi on tap!
