If high tea and five star service are your thing, then the Franklin’s Dior inspired afternoon tea is sure to satisfy.

Teaming up with bespoke event planning company La Fete, the curated experience is an homage to the Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams exhibition currently on display at The Victoria and Albert Museum – a stone’s throw away from The Franklin Hotel. Referencing key elements from the iconic designer’s life, this smorgasbord of colourful and decadent treats is unique due to its novelty factor, presentation and the oh-so delicious tastes.

Before dissecting the tea-menu, a note on the atmosphere: The Franklin provides a wonderful, spa-like ambiance, with relaxing music and plush sofas, allowing you to truly indulge all of your senses in this experience.

Guests are first presented with an exotic tea menu and the alcoholic option, The Mitzah cocktail (Sauvelle vodka, L’Original Combier, Triple Sec, Combier Crème de Violette, lemon juice, egg white, sugar syrup and blackberries), in celebration of Dior’s leopard-wearing muse. Crafted by award-winning in-house mixologist, Salvatore Maggio, the cocktail provides a subtle flowery flavour with a delicate crème de violette aftertaste. It is a delicious concoction and one that could easily be ordered on repeat.

First up come the savoury items: ‘The Train to Montecatini’: a sumptuous chou filled with traditional foie gras and strawberry jam, the ‘Éclair Cousu-Main’: a delicately baked ‘finger’ cheese fondue with rich black truffle and ‘The Granville’: a light, flavorsome mushroom flan.

Next up are the sweet treats. These include ‘J’adore’, a peanutty sponge and dulcey chocolate cream with a beautiful Dior-inspired perfume bottle, allowing tea goers to spray thee vaporized Calvados at will; Le Montaigne, a milk and white chocolate cake inspired by the designer’s home in Normandy, a beautiful ‘make-up palette’ of French petit fours and decadent pink macarons on dollhouse-like Louis chairs.

The experience is a treasure trove of wonders and unique novelties. For those that like tea – and like to feel like a Princess while at it! – then this is one of the best afternoon experiences in London.
