Our travel editor first slipped these boots on in London. A little tough to start with, but any shoe or boot needs to be worn in before being fully effective. Pacing the streets of London in these lightweight, cozy and waterproof boots was an easy stroll. As the boots are extraordinarily lightweight, the agility with which one strides is refreshing. The boots are incredibly stylish and durable – a perfect match for traversing a wet city in numerous outfits whilst managing to evade wet or cold feet.
The next port of call was a wild winter in Bulgaria. Admittedly, the lack of snow made the daily walks easier. The weather was bitterly cold. When the boots were paired with thick wintery socks, walking in Sorel boots felt like walking outside in your slippers. The comfort factor is coupled with the lightness of the boot, allowing for quick and light steps; you forget you are wearing chunky, almost knee-length boots as you jovially challenge the strong winds and bitterness of an Eastern European climate. Inasmuch as the boots fulfill your needs for outdoor footwear, warm socks are essential for warmth. The sole of the boot seems indestructible, a fabulous alternative for the fluffy lined boots that wear out quickly.
The travelling boots next visited France whereupon a milder climate greeted them. The tough boots certainly are made for walking: village roads, country dirt and strong winds make an alternative for the comparatively placid weather of London; the boots, however, mastered any geophysical challenge that the landscape presented and remain as if new.
The ultimate test shall be in the mountainous landscape of Switzerland, below.
