An English breakfast (most important meal of the day!) could cost a traveller staying in a London hotel an average of £27.

The most expensive bacon and eggs in the capital will set a person back a whopping £39 at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel in Knightsbridge, according to research by hotel app Blink Booking.

A five-star breakfast cannot be found in London for much less than £16, with just one of the 50 hotels Blink researched offering the meal for £9.95.

Blink Booking surveyed the AA Best Hotel Guide’s “Top 50 London Hotels” to gain insight in to the current cost of an English breakfast.

Mark Datta, Blink Booking UK managing director, said: “Whilst many might expect to pay a premium to eat in London’s top hotels, the results of the breakfast research still shocked us a bit.”

London’s most expensive five-star breakfasts were found to be the Jumeirah Carlton Hotel, Knightbridge, at £39, followed by the Dorchester, Mayfair, at £36 and the Ritz London, Mayfair, at £35.

Breakfast at the Berkeley, Knightsbridge, costs £34 and the Mandarin Oriental in Hyde Park charges £32.

The Levin in Knightsbridge offers London’s least expensive five-star breakfasts at £9.95, followed by the Baglioni Hotel in Hyde Park at £16, and the Plaza on the River in Waterloo at £17.50
