When travelling outside of one’s comfort zones, having a clean, polished and luxurious pad to return to is hard to beat.

The Oakwood Residences Saigon have capitalised upon the comfort aspect, married with a healthy dose of luxury, to create an inimitable and relaxed environment for guests visiting Ho Chi Minh City.

The serviced-apartments range from one bedroom to larger three bedroom units, accommodating up to six guests. The rooms are simple but comfortable and each have Oakwood branded slippers and dressing gowns. The bathrooms – either en-suite or adjacent – are large and luxurious, decked out in white marble and feature Oakwood-branded toiletries.

The focal point of the apartment is the open-plan living room and kitchen (which featured, to our delight, a washing machine and dryer). Replete with all the amenities you could want, and providing that ‘home away from home’ factor, the Oakwood Residences Saigon was one of the best experiences we had in Vietnam. The residences are luxurious yet unpretentious, allowing guests to kick off their shoes and truly relax.

Other perks include the epic views afforded by virtue of being a high-rise building; the outside pool with unmarred views over the cityscape; daily housekeeping, and the ground-floor cafe that offers Western dishes as well as local cuisine. A one minute walk will also take you to the next door shopping mall where you can find pretty much anything.

The last word would have to be on the location: situated in the 7th district, the Oakwood Residences Saigon is a 20 minute journey from downtown. For some, the hotel may seem too remote. For others, the welcome change of scenery and distancing from the chaotic city center may be a blessing. Whatever your preference, staying in the 7th district is an incredible experience and allows you to see first-hand the modernization that is sweeping the city from the center-out.
