The exceptionally fine Château de Berne wines have a very distinctive character and come in equally distinctive bottles that start the conversation before you even open them.
Red
60% Syrah and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, this is a deep colour red that makes a big entrance with its complex nose reminiscent of black fruit and spice. It is dry yet easy on the palate, with soft tannins and a well-rounded body. Elegant and ready to drink now, the wine is one of the best (if not THE best) in the Cotes de Provence appellation range.
White
50% Sémillon, 50% Rolle (Vermentino), with an intriguing dark yellow hue and an equally intriguing and very fruity nose. It explodes on your palate with a complex range of candied fruit flavours and has a perfect smooth, even buttery finish. Really superb and gives the better known Provence rose a great run for its money.
Rose
80% Grenache, 20% Cinsault. With is highly sophisticated pale salmon colour, a very powerful fruity nose and a hint of red currant and citrus, this would delight the ultra discriminating Rose connoisseur. Dry, elegant and smooth, it encapsulates the best of Provence’s premier, “grown-up” wines and is great both on its own, as an aperitif or with foie gras or Parmesan cheese (which is exactly how we served it).
